Kieren Turner Owen: Team Spotlight
Tell us about yourself and your background.
Everyone knows I am a very proud Welshman, having grown up and lived in North Wales until 2015 when I moved across the border to Birmingham. I moved to Birmingham with HSBC, where I started working as a cashier full time at the ripe old age of 17…
What is your role at FDC?
I work alongside a few colleagues in the Property Team at FDC, tasked with lending on Property Development schemes.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
“Look at the views”. This was more around a cycling event I was training for which involved a fair few mountains, it helped take my mind off pedalling squares for a few seconds!
Why FDC? What drew you to the family?
I moved over after a recommendation from a friend who already worked at FDC. I thought why not make the jump as it would help me build my knowledge and a wider picture of the Property / Real Estate world, having moved from Investment finance to Development finance.
Property questions:
Tell us a bit about FDC’s Property funds?
We currently manage c£310m of funds both Grant and Loan deployable across the West Midlands. Our funds have been in place in various guises since 2016, helping develop a significant number of schemes and outputs.
What kind of businesses are eligible for the funds?
Any property business with a development scheme in the West Midlands!

Quick fire round
What is your favourite song/artist/author/hobby/thing and why?
Song – Chasing Cars – I just think it’s a great song…!
Artist – Christoph Niemann – I like how he looks at and sometimes uses everyday objects to make art, looking at the items / life from a different perspective.
Author – N/A…I don’t tend to read, I’m more of a documentary person.
Hobby – Cycling, Mountaineering and Photography! They all allow me to see different parts of the world from different perspectives and I love sport! My other half is a Physio to so we like exploring together on our holidays!
Last destination you travelled to and the next one you aspire to go?
Last destination was an, shall we say, eventful, road trip in France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Italy and Luxembourg. We’re off to Slovenia in August which just looks incredible!
One interesting fact about yourself.
My colleagues had a few suggestions but this one worked…I know a lot of pointless, but interesting (sometimes boring)…facts!
